I chose this theme because when I went to these memorials, I felt like we were not honoring our fallen soldiers, but glorifying death and war. To me, monuments to war aren't always held in a good light, sometimes they're held in a darker light. Monuments are usually made to honor people or events, so I thought it would be awesome if I contrasted what monuments stereotypically stand for and what they could stand for.
In order to achieve the feel I wanted, I used lighting and mood to show the darker side to war. I also used the rule of thirds to emphisize certain points, as well as using space/figures.
Jade, your new concentration idea is so cool. I love the colors youve chosen to work with, as well as the angles you took the pictures from.
ReplyDeleteYour concentration is very strong. The emphasis is almost overwhelming, but in a really good way. The feeling is very solemn but strong at the same time. A few pictures had a very odd effect; perhaps picnik-ified a tad too much? For example in the picture of the flame, the cracks seem almost overly-emphasized and a little too dark. All in all, a wonderful concentration, great job!
ReplyDeleteI really like your final picture, I think it really ties your whole concentration together because it shows a monument, gravestones, and a park, which encompasses your whole group of photos.
ReplyDeleteI really liked that you showed a differnt side of war many people do not pay attention to. All your pictures are clear on what you are trying to comunicate.
ReplyDeleteI like all of your images, I like how they are historical and connect to all of us very well. I really like the interesting angles and how you edited the colors to fit your theme. The only thing I would look into would be the way you edited some of them, they look a little too edited, it kind of takes away from the picture. Other than that they are great!
ReplyDeleteI love how the colors you used for this just work really well together. I also liked your concentration theme becuase its the side of war people tend to ignore. Good job :)
ReplyDeleteSo your pictures are amazing. The editing in the second is unbelieveably great. And I love all the lines in the first. The picture with the men in the coats absolutely blew my mind. Also, your last three are excellent and so strong. You have a terrific concentration!
ReplyDeleteLove your theme! War is always something significant to a country and its people and you told a story of war very well. I feel like all the editing is appropriate and all your images are very clear.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you chose war as your theme. All the pictures are super focused and they are all nicely taken. Good job!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picture is the fire picture. Your picture really catches the movement of the fire in the wind. Some of your pictures are a little confusing I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to communicate, but your diptics are the best pictures in your concentration.
ReplyDeleteI love the clarity in all these photos. The angles and juxtaposition are very interesting. I would suggest swapping out the "Oregon" photo.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures you've taken. They're very eye catching and related to the country and its military which I grew up in so I appriciate them a lot. Amazing job.
ReplyDeleteSo patriotism huh? I love your pictures.. and even with out reading your theme just by looking at your pictures its obvious. Theyre amazing! The clarity, and tone of them is just ridiculously good! I was thinking maybe you could replace one of the one with the words to not seem to repetitive.
ReplyDeleteWow, the last few pictures in the series were amazing. You came up with a great idea and it turned out really good. The only things I would improve would be the 1st and 3rd pictures, they seem really simple compared to the rest. Other than that, you've done a beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteThese are truly beautiful! You are very talented! I fell like these pictures should be in a magized, they are very beautiful! I love the lighting!
